Salary of NDA cadets

- NDA salary during the training period
Candidates selected through the NDA exam first go through a training period of 3 years. During this period, they receive a fixed stipend of Rs. 56100/- (at pay matrix of level 10). The training period shall not be considered as commissioned service, and the allowances granted during this time will be paid as dues on successful commissioning. There is a fixed stipend for cadet training.
- NDA salary after the training
After the training period has ended and the cadets have successfully completed the training, they will join the armed forces as one of the following:
- a) In the Indian air force, they will join as flying officers
- b) In the Indian navy, they will be commissioned as sub-lieutenants
- c) In the Indian army, they will be commissioned as lieutenants.
Cadets joining as Lieutenants will be commissioned with a pay scale of Rs 56,100/- to Rs 1,77,500/- as basic pay plus allowances and other benefits. After that, the salary depends on promotions, and there will be increments. The salary structure varies according to the ranks.
- Details of MSP (military service pay)
Officers holding the rank from Lieutenant to Brigadier are also qualified for Military service pay (MSP) of Rs 15,500/- per month. This is a fixed amount.
- Flying allowance

Job Profile and Responsibilities of NDA cadets
NDA candidates are required to perform intense physical exercises, fatiguing drills, and physical training (PT) in the morning. They have to wake up at 4 am, and the PT/drill continues till 6 am. After PT/drill, cadets return to their squadron. They are required to get ready and leave for breakfast. After finishing breakfast, they need to attend classes. All the seniors are very strict regarding time and punctuality, so everyone needs to follow the routine strictly.
The classes get over by lunchtime (2 pm), and then cadets are given 45 minutes for lunch. There are no nap times in between, and right after lunch, the cadets need to leave for PT classes or any sports discipline of their choice.
The 3 hours from 3 pm to 6 pm are booked for fostering a spirit of sportsmanship. After that, a few hours are allotted to studies, after which dinner is served at 8:30 pm. Lights go out at 10:15 pm exactly, and the cadets have to stick to this routine for the three years of training.
